Happy 1st Anniversary to Bec & Gavin with their gorgeous wedding at Maleny!
Last year this fabulous couple got married at Maleny Retreat among all their loved ones. The weather was very sketchy on the day. Lots of rain clouds and it didn’t look promising at all, but it stayed pretty much dry all day. During our portrait session the sun even decided to show up for a bit and overall we created so much magic together.
This beautiful couple have a true modern day love story! Teenage sweet hearts at first, they later headed their own seperate ways in life. Both married and started families, but after many years they realised that their marriages weren’t what they hoped for and both became newly single again.
Gavin and Bec had mutual friends on Facebook which led them to get in contact and they started to hang out together. Time spent in each others’ company rekindled their love and the rest is history now becoming a gorgeous family of 5.
I always have a meeting with my clients before the big day to find out exactly what my couples find important on their big day. When I spoke to Gavin and Bec their main goal was to have an awesome time for their portrait/location session. This meant it was important to not only have a great time together (with their kids) but also to dedicate plenty of time for the day.
Most of the time, my couples only factor around 45 mins to an hour of portrait on their day, but with Gavin and Bec we almost had 2 hours, which was so wonderful!
The great thing about this is that, not only did we have so many lovely shots of them enjoying their time but it gave me the opportunity to be creative with my “Flash gear” (my speedlights with my Magmod light modifiers) creating something truly epic. It resulted in many fabulous shots which meant Gavin and Bec are over the moon, so task succeeded, whoohoo <3
I always try to urge my couples, to take plenty of time out for their portrait sessions. Sure I can create plenty of natural looking photos for anyone who wants them, but to create something truly cool and different it might take a little bit of time to perfect the set up. In this world of rushing it’s so nice to have that time with just the 2 of you (or with your kids) to experience those first special moments when you are “fresh” newlyweds.
Thank you so much Gavin and Bec for having me as your photographer and wish your family the best of what life can offer. Till we meet again gorgeous people. 😘
